Amy Shapiro is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist and exercise enthusiast who believes that both nutrition and physical activity play integral roles in reaching optimal health. As the founder of AWS Nutrition, a private practice located in New York City, she encourages clients to add these elements into their lives, helping them create a lifestyle, instead of a diet, to meet their nutrition and wellness goals. Amy specializes in weight loss, general wellness, pre/post natal nutrition and pediatric nutrition as well as GI tract disorders (IBS, Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, celiac), hyperlipidemia, food allergies and diabetes.

Amy graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and became the Manager of Legal Recruiting at Chadbourne & Parke LLP, a large international law firm. After several years in the corporate world, she decided to pursue her passion and returned to school to receive her Registered Dietitian licensure and Masters in Clinical Nutrition at New York University. Amy completed her dietetic internship at Montefiore Medical Center, subsequently joining their nutrition team as a Clinical Dietitian. She has also counseled patients and families at both "God's Love We Deliver" and the NYU Pediatric Dental Clinic.

In addition to counseling clients, Amy speaks on a variety of nutrition topics to parenting groups, corporations, schools and non-profit organizations, contributes nutritional information to print and on-line publications, is a regular columnist for www.skinnyandthecity.com and has appeared as a nutrition expert on the CW11 morning news. She is also the Dietitian for Bodylogix, a nutrition supplement company based out of Toronto, CA where she creates and writes their meal plans and nutritional content.

Amy is a member of the American Dietetic Association and The Greater New York Dietetic Association as well as the following Dietetic Practice Groups: Weight Management, Women’s Health, Nutrition Entrepreneurs and Environmental Nutrition.

She currently lives in New York City with her husband and son where she enjoys an active lifestyle, cooking, reading, traveling, chocolate and wine.
